I live off of this stuff and I don't know any hard-working photographer who doesn't.
Gap
On the streets with Gap.
One Light
In the studio just using one large softbox up above. Shot in manual at 1/250th at F13, ISO 100. I'm a big fan using one light primarily because there's so much you could do with just one simple light setup. Hair/make-up done by Hidenori Miyazaki.
Luscious Red for the Weekend
Shot with my long gone Canon Mark II N. 1/60th at F9, ISO 200. One 580EX II going through a Photoflex shoot through umbrella positioned to the left.
Hair/make-up done by Hidenori Miyazaki.
Everybody Street
Attention photographers. Look forward to watching this.
Looking at the Big Picture
Because looking at things in close detail all the time usually results in self-convinced failure. Photography is a good example of this. As photographers, we know what it's like to fail over and over. And over. "My photos suck. I screwed up a $10,000 job. I keep on getting undercut by the competition. I brought back a bunch of garbage at the end of the day." It's important to pay attention to the details and to look at the big picture both at the same time.
What Defines Fashion
Saw this posted on a wall in Hong Kong and thought it was worth a quick snap.
Tochomae From The Ground
I'm not an architectural photographer. But I thought this was a cool little shot that I took while cruising the streets. Played with the highlights/shadows and contrast in Photoshop for a minute to give it this look. Mark IV w/ my favorite 16-35 F2.8L walk around lens, 1/200 @ F9, ISO 100.
If You Make Your Living By Creating Art
Whether you're an artist or wanting to be one, this video will give you something to think about and be thankful for when you have your ups and downs in this rocky economic world. Seen way too many people step on that fine line but were too scared to cross it. I mean you only live once and you could be a goner tomorrow so why waste it?
If you ask yourself the question, "If I were to be a goner in two weeks time, would I be happy to continue to do what I'm doing now?" If the answer if no, then you know something has to change even if it scares you silly.
This Is Tokyo
Tokyo at night. Shot with my old Canon 1D Mark II N with a 35mm lens, 1/2 at F2.8, ISO 100. HANDHELD with the lens pressed up onto a large window. Not the best but it did the job for a casual walk around shot.
